AeroVironment's Puma AE

A small unmanned aircraft system that weighs only 13 pounds has been chosen by the U.S. Army to perform intelligence-gathering missions. The National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) also uses the Puma AE to conduct wildlife surveys and oil spillage monitoring. AeroVironment introduced a variety of enhancements to its Puma AE small and unmanned aerial vehicles earlier this year. They are currently in production.


DoD's C-sUAS strategy

Repairing a damaged motor on a drone

To repair a motor damaged, the first step is to identify which part is broken. It is easy to do this by removing the propeller shaft from the motor shaft. Then you should remove any wires attached to the motor and look at the inner workings of the motor itself. If you spot something wrong, you can identify which part of the motor needs to be fixed.

If the motor is in good condition, you shouldn't worry. But if it looks like one of the images below, you will need to replace parts before you can fly again.

Consider a motor that has become bent and won't turn. To get the motor to turn again, you'll need to bend it. You could use a vice grip or a pair of pliers to hold the motor while bending it back into shape. After you're done, check your motor for signs of wear.
